Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell’s The Shining

Runtime: approximately 2 hours, including one 20-minute intermission

Content Advisory:

  • Strong language
  • Themes of sex and brief depiction of nudity
  • Onstage fighting, violence, and murder

Although The Shining promises an unforgettable experience during the Halloween season, we do not recommend this opera for young children, though it may be appropriate for older teens. This production includes several frightening scenes, mentions of suicide, acts of violence with various weapons, depictions of domestic violence, frequent references to alcohol and drunkenness, eerie supernatural scenes, strong language, depictions of nudity, and some lighthearted sexual innuendos.

Two men act in a theatrical scene. The man on the left holds a rifle and wears a dark outfit with red gloves. The man on the right looks surprised, wearing a festive sweater with reindeer. They are in a room with shelves and cans.
