A Message from President & CEO Patricia A. Richards

Dear Utah Symphony | Utah Opera Family,

In a time like this, it is important that we check in on each other and keep open lines of communication with those close to us. You are a part of our family, and we want you to know that we are thinking of you and hope that you are well and safe.

Personally, it has become all the more apparent to me how much we rely on music and artistic expression to get us through the day. Whether you put on soothing music to calm your nerves, turn on your favorite movie, or live stream a music class from your child’s school, art brings us together to celebrate good times, to soothe in bad, and to illuminate our humanity.

Utah is fortunate and proud to have a rich cultural landscape that serves our citizens, educates our youth, and drives our economy. Each of you plays a role in contributing to this vibrancy. The chance for our artists and staff to share great live music and performances with you on a regular basis is a source of joy, camaraderie, and optimism. Along with all of my colleagues at Utah Symphony and Utah Opera, I am very much looking forward to a time when we can all come together again.

While our performances have been put on hold for the time being, we are actively planning for the future. Thank you for the outpouring of concern and support we have felt from our USUO family. I encourage you to continue to stay in touch with us.

Utah Symphony | Utah Opera is a non-profit performing arts organization, and there has never been a time when your gift could be more important to our continued existence. Our only source of income is ticket sales and contributions. Should your situation allow, we hope you will consider supporting us by continuing to purchase season tickets for the Utah Symphony or Utah Opera‘s 2020-21 season or making a donation. We realize there are many pressing needs, but also want to ensure that once our situation improves, our artists can continue to bring you the high-quality performances you have come to expect.

Our thoughts and well wishes are with you and your loved ones. Please visit us on our website and social media where you will find updates and USUO musical content to enjoy in the absence of our live performances. Please reach out to us if you have questions or concerns, and we will keep you apprised of our situation.

Sincerely,
Pat RichardsPatricia A. Richards
