Conductor Edwin Outwater is Artistic Director of the Eastern Sierra Symphony, Artistic Director of “The Line-Up”, a concert series at The Park at Wrigley in Chicago, and Music Director Laureate of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony in Ontario, Canada. Mr. Outwater is an ardent champion of new music and cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaboration, and is equally adept at interpreting canonical masterworks, premiering new commissions, and connecting audiences with repertoire beyond the mainstream. He holds a master’s degree in conducting from the University of California-Santa Barbara.
John Williams is an American composer who has scored over one hundred films. Mr. Williams has received a variety of prestigious awards, including the National Medal of Arts, the Kennedy Center Honor, the Olympic Order, and numerous Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. Mr. Williams has also written music for concert performances and many important cultural and commemorative events including several Olympic Games. Movie fans won’t want to miss the Utah Symphony’s performance of music written by one of the greatest film composers of all time on Saturday, July 28 at 7:30 PM.
Utah Symphony | Utah Opera’s 15th season of the Deer Valley® Music Festival comprises 17 performances over six weeks with performances in a variety of venues featuring a wide array of music styles, including bluegrass, musical theater, folk, country, and more. The 15th anniversary of the festival will focus on celebrating the local community, donors, and supporters through a variety of pop-up ensemble performances at existing summer events and venues throughout the community.
The Utah Symphony will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 conducted by Conner Gray Covington in a concert that will also feature soprano Sarah Shafer performing musical selections from Bach and Canteloube for the third chamber concert of the Deer Valley® Music Festival on Wednesday, July 25 at 8:00 PM at St. Mary’s Church.
As part of the 15th anniversary celebrations of the Deer Valley Music Festival, a duo of Utah Symphony violinist Lynn Rosen and pianist Jed Moss will perform a free pop up concert at Susan Swartz Gallery from 5:30 PM to 6 PM on Friday, July 27 as part of the Park City Gallery Association Friday Gallery Stroll.
Amos Lee will make his Deer Valley Music Festival debut on Friday, July 27 at 7:30 PM
On Monday, July 30 a Utah Symphony woodwind trio will perform a concert at Gallery MAR from 5:30 PM to 6 PM. Cost is $20 and includes small bites and beverages. For more information on other pop up concerts, visit deervalleymusicfestival.org/education-events/.

Outside food and drink are permitted. We recommend arriving early to picnic on the lawn prior to the concert. Concessions, including options from the grill and beverages, are for sale at the venue. Gourmet picnic baskets may be ordered in advance through Deer Valley Resort. Gates open approximately at 5:30 PM to the public. Arrive early for best seating and parking options as the venue fills up quickly for most performances.
The venue is a ski hill with a base altitude of 6,570 feet and may be difficult for some patrons to walk up. There are a few sections with limited views due to grading. Volunteers can point out the best seating locations available. Chairs are provided in the reserved and ADA seating sections. Outside chairs can be brought in and used on the west side of the General Admission section, but must be low chairs that are no higher than 9” from the ground. A limited number of chairs are available to rent at the venue. These will sell out early for popular performances. Approximate performance time is two hours with one 20-minute intermission.
Free parking is available at the venue. Carpooling is strongly recommended to help alleviate traffic congestion. You may need to walk up to 0.5 mile from the parking lot to the venue, but you may utilize the drop off zone in front of the ticket office if you have large items like coolers. Temperatures drop significantly when the sun goes down. A blanket or jacket is highly recommended. Temperature projection: Check back on the week of the performance.
