Our Commitment to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
Utah Symphony | Utah Opera stands firmly together alongside our neighbors and community in supporting equity, inclusion, and a fully welcoming environment for employees, artists, board members, and audiences across all forms of diversity including, but not limited to, diversity of race, religion, place of origin, gender, age, disability, sexual identity and preference, and the realities of differing opportunities in rural, suburban, and urban communities and varied socio-economic circumstances. We value every listener and creator of music and commit ourselves to being a humble, open, and welcoming institution that places distinct value on the varied voices of our full community.
Our goals for the future are to actively listen and respond by creating performances, partnerships, and activity that engages our entire region in listening, dialogue, and collective experiences that improve an already incredible place to live. We seek to identify and eliminate barriers to full participation and invest in opportunities for a broad, diverse community.
We stand against violence, discrimination, and racism in all forms. We stand with our neighbors and colleagues in committing ourselves to always working to be a better organization and creating musical experiences that engage us, teach us about each other and these incredible art forms, and bring us together. What better work could we do than accomplish this through music?
We will continue to be mindful of our place of privilege and role in Utah to use the full breadth of our music to bring people together.
