The Independent – Utah Symphony performs in Cedar City, St. George

The Utah Symphony will give performances in St. George and Cedar City showcasing a full program of classical music with full orchestra and chamber ensemble performances. The orchestra will perform works by Schumann, Respighi, and Stravinsky, including Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite,” Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Heritage Center in Cedar City and Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at DSU in St. George. The orchestra will also perform several times at Desert Hills High School Oct. 3.
Adkins will also hold a private masterclass for string students at DSU Oct. 4 at 10 a.m.
Then, on Oct. 5, the Fremont Quartet chamber ensemble comprising concertmaster Madeline Adkins, principal viola Brant Bayless, principal second violin Claude Halter, and guest cellist Matthew Johnson will perform concerts at 3 and 7:30 p.m. at the Eccles Concert Hall at DSU. The quartet will perform Caroline Shaw’s “Entr’acte” as well as string quartets by Grieg and Beethoven.
