A man wearing glasses, a blue suit, and a tan scarf smiles while standing outdoors in a city with water, boats, and tall buildings in the background.
A woman with short blonde hair and red lipstick, wearing a black off-the-shoulder top and round earrings, smiles while looking slightly to her left against a plain light background.
A smiling woman in a yellow dress sits on a yellow chair, holding a violin against a bright yellow background.
A large group of people dressed in formal black attire stand in rows outside Abravanel Hall, a modern building with glass and tan stone walls, on a sunny day. One person in a blue suit stands at the front.

What to Expect

This year’s Music Elevated State Tour performances bring together symphony, opera, and community to celebrate our state’s incredible legacy of live music and cultural heritage. Each concert has a patriotic flair with beloved classical pieces, Broadway selections, American folk music, and more. We’ll also draw from USUO’s own history—honoring the legacy of Maurice Abravanel Hall as well as Utah Opera’s commitment to commissioning and presenting new American works.

Copland, Williams & the American Canon

Rediscover fan favorites by celebrated American composers, including Copland’s “Hoe-Down” from Rodeo and John Williams’ Liberty Fanfare—alongside folk, Broadway, and more in a program built for America250.

Mahler, Puccini & USUO’s Founding Productions

Dive into USUO’s decades-long history of recording and artistic collaboration with performances of Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, a Maurice Abravanel signature first recorded by Utah Symphony in 1975, and Puccini’s “Quando m’en vo” from La bohème, Utah Opera’s debut production in 1978.

Artists Shaped by Utah, Celebrated by the World

Performing repertoire rooted in place, collaboration, and tradition, our guest artists appear on selections including “Simple Child” from The Grapes of Wrath (a Utah Opera co-commission), Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, and more.

Utah’s orchestral tradition began on the trail. We’re partnering with the Church History Museum to find instruments connected to pioneer heritage and honor the families who kept them.
