Mindful Music Moments

Mindful Music Moments are short, guided listening experiences featuring recordings by the Utah Symphony and other orchestras and world renowned musicians. Each 3–5 minute segment invites students to listen closely to orchestral music and notice musical elements such as rhythm, melody, dynamics, instrumentation, and form.

Developed in collaboration with The Well, Mindful Music Moments fit easily into the school day and can be used during morning announcements, transitions, or as a listening warm-up in music class. The program includes 40 weeks of short audio and video segments in English and Spanish. Each segment features a brief listening prompt focused on what to listen for in the music, followed by an excerpt of orchestral repertoire.

If your school is interested in accessing this program, please contact our Education department at [email protected].

Benefits include:

  • 40 weeks of 3–5 minute guided listening segments
  • English and Spanish audio/video content
  • Prompts that focus on musical elements (instrument families, tempo, dynamics, texture, form)
  • Easy integration into the school day (announcements, transitions, music class)
  • Schoolwide access via a single streaming link
  • Optional teacher extensions focused on music vocabulary and listening skills

How schools use Music Moments
Schools often play Music Moments during morning announcements, classroom transitions, or as a brief listening warm-up. Prompts invite students to listen for specific musical ideas, and teachers may optionally ask a short follow-up question such as “What instruments did you hear?” or “How did the music change?”
