Tony Award-Winner Sutton Foster to Perform at the Deer Valley® Music Festival on July 21

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (July 3, 2018) –Tony Award-winning singer Sutton Foster will take the stage at the Deer Valley®Music Festival on Saturday, July 21 at 7:30 PM in a performance with the Utah Symphony led by Assistant Conductor Conner Gray Covington. Sutton Foster will make her Deer Valley® Music Festival debut at this concert, but is no stranger to Utah. She performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at the Christmas Concert in December 2017 and sang in a touring production of “Les Misérables” that brought her to Salt Lake City in 1999. She is an American actress, singer, and dancer who has received Tony Awards for her roles in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “Anything Goes.” She also currently stars in the TVLand comedy “Younger.”

Conner Gray Covington is the Assistant Conductor of the Utah Symphony. His contract was recently extended through the 2019-20 season with a promotion to Associate Conductor. In 2017, he completed his tenure at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he made his Carnegie Hall debut with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Covington holds a degree in violin performance,  a Master of Music in orchestral conducting, and is a recipient of the Walter Hagen Conducting Prize.

Utah Symphony | Utah Opera’s 15th season of the Deer Valley® Music Festival comprises 17 performances over six weeks with performances in a variety of venues featuring a wide array of music styles, including bluegrass, musical theater, folk, country, and more. The 15th anniversary of the festival will focus on celebrating the local community, donors, and supporters through a variety of pop-up ensemble performances at existing summer events and venues throughout the community.



The Utah Symphony will perform Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony on Wednesday, July 18 at 8 PM at St. Mary’s church.

Rick Springfield will be joining the Utah Symphony on stage for an evening of ‘80s rock on Friday, July 20 at 7:30 PM in the Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater.

As part of the 15th anniversary celebrations of the Deer Valley® Music Festival, a Utah Symphony ensemble featuring Percussionist/Timpanist Eric Hopkins and Trumpet Gabe Slesinger will perform in a free pop-up concert at the Park Silly Sunday Market at 1:00 PM on July 22, located on Park City’s historic Main Street. Outside food and drink are permitted. We recommend arriving early to picnic on the lawn prior to the concert. Concessions, including options from the grill and beverages, are for sale at the venue. Gourmet picnic baskets may be ordered in advance through Deer Valley Resort. Gates open approximately at 5:30 PM to the public. Arrive early for best seating and parking options as the venue fills up quickly for most performances.

The venue is a ski hill with a base altitude of 6,570 feet and may be difficult for some patrons to walk up. There are a few sections with limited views due to grading. Volunteers can point out the best seating locations available. Chairs are provided in the reserved and ADA seating sections. Outside chairs can be brought in and used on the west side of the General Admission section, but must be low chairs that are no higher than 9” from the ground. A limited number of chairs are available to rent at the venue. These will sell out early for popular performances. Approximate performance time is two hours with one 20-minute intermission.

Free parking is available at the venue. Carpooling is strongly recommended to help alleviate traffic congestion. You may need to walk up to 0.5 mile from the parking lot to the venue, but you may utilize the drop off zone in front of the ticket office if you have large items like coolers. Temperatures drop significantly when the sun goes down. A blanket or jacket is highly recommended. Temperature projection: Check back on the week of the performance.
