Calling all Super Troopers and Dancing Queens to the Deer Valley® Music Festival The Utah Symphony performs a special tribute to ABBA

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (June 21, 2018) – The Utah Symphony presents an evening of chart-topping hits from ABBA on Friday July 13th at 7:30 PM at the Deer Valley® Music Festival. Conductor Conner Gray Covington leads the Utah Symphony on July 13th in a tribute to the greatest pop phenomenon of the 20th century. Gather friends and family and dance on over for a night guaranteed to get you on your feet. ABBA: The Concert is “the closest to ABBA you’ll ever get.” This is a night that super troopers and dancing queens won’t be able to resist.

Conner Gray Covington is the Assistant Conductor of the Utah Symphony and recently extended his contract through the 2019-2020 season with a promotion to Associate Conductor. He is an accomplished violinist and has conducted orchestras across the nation and overseas. In 2017, he completed his tenure at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he made his Carnegie Hall debut with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Covington holds a degree in violin performance and a Master of Music in orchestral conducting and is a recipient of the Walter Hagen Conducting Prize award.

Utah Symphony | Utah Opera’s 15th season of the Deer Valley® Music Festival comprises 17 performances over 6 weeks with performances in a variety of venues. The 15th anniversary of the festival will focus on celebrating the local community, donors, and supporters through a variety of pop-up ensemble performances at existing summer events and venues throughout the community. These pop-up community performances will feature a wide array of music styles, including bluegrass, musical theater, folk, country, and more.

Subscription, group, and VIP tickets for the Deer Valley® Music Festival are on sale now. Prices are subject to change and increase $5 on the day of the performance. Children 3 years of age and under are free in the General Admission section. No ticket is required. Programming and guest artists subject to change. VENUE INFORMATION

Outside food and drink are permitted. We recommend arriving early to picnic on the lawn prior to the concert. Concessions, including options from the grill and beverages, are for sale at the venue. Gourmet picnic baskets may be ordered in advance through Deer Valley Resort. Gates open approximately at 5:30 PM to the public. Arrive early for best seating and parking options as the venue fills up quickly for most performances.

The venue is a ski hill with a base altitude of 6,570 feet and may be difficult for some patrons to walk up. There are a few sections with limited views due to grading. Volunteers can point out the best seating locations available. Chairs are provided in the reserved and ADA seating sections. Outside chairs can be brought in and used on the west side of the General Admission section, but must be low chairs that are no higher than 9” from the ground. A limited number of chairs are available to rent at the venue. These will sell out early for popular performances. Approximate performance time is two hours with one 20-minute intermission.

Free parking is available at the venue. Carpooling is strongly recommended to help alleviate traffic congestion. You may need to walk up to 0.5 mile from the parking lot to the venue, but you may utilize the drop off zone in front of the ticket office if you have large items like coolers. Temperatures drop significantly when the sun goes down. A blanket or jacket is highly recommended. Temperature projection: Check back on the week of the performance.
