Rachel Potter Kicks Off the 15th Annual Deer Valley® Music Festival With The Utah Symphony

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (June 12, 2018) – Join the Utah Symphony for a patriotic celebration starring Rachel Potter at 7:30 pm on June 30th at the Deer Valley® Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. The Utah Symphony is excited to have Rachel Potter kick off the 15th annual Deer Valley® Music Festival on June 30th along with conductor John Morris Russell. Ms. Potter is most known for being a Top 12 finalist on season 3 of FOX’s “The X-Factor,” and for her role as Glinda in the National Tour of “Wicked.” Ms. Potter’s career has earned her international recognition and praise. Ms. Potter’s background gives her a distinctive singing style that blends pop, country, and musical theater into one unique voice. “X-Factor” judges had high praise for Ms. Potter. Conductor John Morris Russell will lead the Utah Symphony at this opening performance of the 15th season of the Deer Valley®Music Festival. He is a remarkable artist with an enthusiasm for all music. He has served as the conductor of the Cincinnati Pops since 2011, and has been a guest conductor at the Deer Valley Music Festival in past seasons. His electric stage presence and unique programming make him one of the most sought-after conductors in the country.

Utah Symphony | Utah Opera’s 15th season of the Deer Valley® Music Festival comprises 17 performances over six weeks with performances in a variety of venues. The 15th anniversary of the festival will focus on celebrating the local community, donors, and supporters through a variety of pop-up ensemble performances at existing summer events and venues throughout the community. These pop up community performances will feature a wide array of music styles, including bluegrass, musical theater, folk, country, and more.

Subscription, group, and VIP tickets for the Deer Valley® Music Festival are on sale now. Prices are subject to change and increase $5 on the day of the performance. Children 3 years of age and under are free in the General Admission section. No ticket is required. Programming and guest artists subject to change. VENUE INFORMATION

Outside food and drink are permitted. We recommend arriving early to picnic on the lawn prior to the concert. Concessions, including options from the grill and beverages, are for sale at the venue. Gourmet picnic baskets may be ordered in advance through Deer Valley Resort. Gates open approximately at 5:30 PM to the public. Arrive early for best seating and parking options as the venue fills up quickly for most performances.

The venue is a ski hill with a base altitude of 6,570 feet and may be difficult for some patrons to walk up. There are a few sections with limited views due to grading. Volunteers can point out the best seating locations available. Chairs are provided in the reserved and ADA seating sections. Outside chairs can be brought in and used on the west side of the General Admission section, but must be low chairs that are no higher than 9” from the ground. A limited number of chairs are available to rent at the venue. These will sell out early for popular performances. Approximate performance time is two hours with one 20-minute intermission.

Free parking is available at the venue. Carpooling is strongly recommended to help alleviate traffic congestion. You may need to walk up to 0.5 mile from the parking lot to the venue, but you may utilize the drop off zone in front of the ticket office if you have large items like coolers. Temperatures drop significantly when the sun goes down. A blanket or jacket is highly recommended. Temperature projection: Check back on the week of the performance.
