Matthew Morrison, Broadway and "Glee" Television Star, Performs With the Utah Symphony at the Deer Valley® Music Festival Featured

With his magnetic stage presence and stellar voice, Matthew Morrison has wowed audiences across America. Having starred in multiple Broadway productions such as Hairspray and The Light in the Piazza, for which he received Tony Award nominations, Mr. Morrison has cultivated undeniable vocal and performance expertise. In his role as Will Scheuster on the FOX television hit series Glee, Mr. Morrison demonstrated his musical chops on the national stage and won widespread acclaim. A celebrity sweetheart, Mr. Morrison has appeared on many television talk shows, including The David Letterman Show, The Ellen Show, and The Today Show.

“For the past few years, I’ve had the fortunate opportunity and privilege to travel across the country and perform with an army of extremely talented musicians, performing what I consider some of the most treasured material in songwriting history,” said Mr. Morrison. “I look forward to performing with the ever-so-talented Utah Symphony, not only because of its rich history, but because Deer Valley is one of my all-time favorite destinations to visit. I’ve traveled there to ski on a number of occasions, but have never visited in the summer months. The show will consist of material from Broadway, Glee, and selections from my two studio albums, for what sure is to be a fun and memorable summer night.”

Guest conductor Jerry Steichen was Utah Symphony’s first Principal Pops Conductor from 2009 to 2015. Prior to becoming Principal Pops Conductor, Mr. Steichen regularly led Utah Symphony and has conducted at the Deer Valley® Music Festival every year since the festival’s inception in 2003. He has also led Utah Opera’s production of Franz Lehár’s The Merry Widow at the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre in January 2016, and recently conducted 75 Years of Bravo Broadway at Abravanel Hall in February 2016.

This concert is one of many headline acts during Utah Symphony | Utah Opera’s 13th season of the Deer Valley® Music Festival, which comprises 17 concerts over a six-week festival throughout the months of July and August. Twelve of these 17 concerts will be held on the main stage at the Deer Valley® Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater, featuring great music such as that of DreamWorks Animation, including songs from Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon, and the music of David Bowie, including hits like “Space Oddity” and “Under Pressure.” Popular guest artists will also play a part in this season of the Deer Valley® Music Festival, including multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated American musician Michael Feinstein. Additionally, on Wednesdays, the Festival hosts five mid-week chamber concerts at St. Mary’s Church, where the best modern musicians will perform classical masterpieces such as Haydn’s “Oxford” Symphonyand Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9.

VIP Events and Packages

VIP packages for both Friday and Saturday performances will continue at this year’s festival and include VIP parking, pre-concert gourmet dinner at the resort, premium reserved seating, and access to the intermission reception. VIP package pricing includes a charitable contribution built into the various package options. Salon events will also continue, featuring intimate performances in luxurious private residences by festival artists. Cost for the salons will be $125 per person. Maximum chair height at Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater is nine inches from the ground. Gates will open to all ticket holders approximately two hours before the performance begins. Patrons must be present to save a spot in line. Unattended items will be removed. Valid picture ID is required to pick up tickets at will call. No ticket reprinting is available for general admission seating. Outside food and drinks are allowed at the venue, and there are a variety of concession services at the venue offered by Deer Valley Resort.
