SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (June 2, 2017) – The Utah Symphony today announced the lineup for its 2017 summer community concert series in Salt Lake City, Utah and surrounding areas. The schedule includes The Beatles cover band, Imagine, with the Utah Symphony at Taylorsville Dayzz on June 22, “La La Land in Concert” at USANA Amphitheatre on June 24, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 at Gallivan Center on June 26, GENTRI with the Utah Symphony at Thanksgiving Point on June 28, and the Patriotic Celebration featuring Lisa Vroman at Snowbasin Resort on June 30. The orchestra will perform the iconic film music of John Williams at Red Butte Garden on August 2. No tickets are required for the Gallivan Center and Taylorsville Dayzz performances, which are free to the public. SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (May 24, 2017) – Utah Symphony | Utah Opera President and CEO Paul Meecham and Board Chair Dave Petersen today announced an extension of Thierry Fischer’s contract as Utah Symphony Music Director through the 2021-22 season. The agreement extends the current contract, set to expire at the end of the 2018-19 season, for an additional three years. Maestro Fischer was named Music Director in September 2009, and his first full season in this role was the Utah Symphony’s 2011-12 season.
